January 6 - January 17
Students received flyers with their unique code to activate their personal fundraising page. They have an aspirational goal of reading 10 hours over the 14 day Read-A-Thon, and can ask friends and family to sponsor their reading with a one-time contribution taken online via the fundraising page. Sponsor’s contributions are not per-hour, or contingent on the student reaching his or her goal. The grade that raises the most (adjusted for number of students) will receive an in-class pizza party. Also, Mr. Baron has graciously agreed to once again take the stage at the Spring Talent Show, and take TWO pies-to-the-face for the top performers in the Read-A-Thon. The student that raises the most will throw one pie, while the winner of a drawing from the top-5 “minutes read” will throw the other.
Please encourage students to participate. Their time spent reading, or being read to, should be entered on their personal webpage. Teachers can add reading time from their classroom time too. Friends and family can post words of encouragement on their page as well. If you need a replacement flyer, please e-mail Greg Rebholz with your student’s name, grade, and teacher.
